The oldest remaining segment of the ramp which carried the LNWR Crewe Works narrow gauge railway from its original 19th century works site, across the tracks at the north end of Crewe station, and onto the station itself. The Heritage Centre is built on the site of the Grand Junction works, of which this ramp is now the only remaining structure.
The Red Wheel plaque was erected during the Covid pandemic and formally uneveiled on 4th July 2022 by Mayor of Crewe, Councillor Nan Walton and Chairman Crewe Heritage Trust, Gordon Heddon supported by Chairman of National Transport Trust, Stuart Wilkinson.
Located right in the centre of Crewe, Cheshire, on the site of the historic Old Works which was home to the original Grand Junction Railway Works.
