A Group visit to the Transport for London Signalling Control Centre at Hammersmith has been arranged for Wednesday 13th November 2024 at 2pm.

With it being an operational workspace and due to space constraints, our numbers are strictly limited to 12 places, so if you’re interested then please don’t delay in responding and please note how to book, as shown below.

The charge for this visit is £5 for Members and places will be allocated on a “first come first served basis”. Once you have been notified that you have definitely been allocated a place on the visit, payment should be made to our Treasurer, but please do not send any payment until you have that confirmation. You will be notified subsequently of how payment should be made.

The Control Centre is a relatively new state of the art signalling centre which controls train movements on what London Underground terms as the “sub-surface” lines, namely the Circle, Hammersmith & City, District and Metropolitan lines and which allows trains to be operated automatically once the systems are up and running.

Those of you who have been on our previous visits to various existing signalboxes on the Metropolitan Line will be aware that the points and signals are life expired and the installation programme is proceeding in stages at present with the Northern extremities of the Met Line not due to be completed until 2026/7 with the Uxbridge branch being the final section to go live.
Unfortunately, there are no catering facilities on site, but with Hammersmith Town Centre being close by, there are plenty of places where food and drink can be obtained.
