40th Anniversary of Southern Steam

40th Anniversary of Southern Steam

The 40th Anniversary of the end of Southern Steam has been celebrated in style by the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society.

The picture above - 'Right Time, Right Place' (Peter Starks) - depicts the truly immaculate Merchant Navy Class locomotive No. 35028 Clan Line preparing to depart Poole with the 1815 to London Waterloo on Sunday 8th July 2007.

On its old stomping ground, Clan Line prepares to tackle Parkstone Bank unaided with a near six hundred ton train, equivalent to sixteen coaches.
