A visit has been arranged for members and guests to the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway in Bedfordshire on Thursday 17th August 2023. We will be travelling on the 2.30pm departure and the visit is expected to take just under 2 hours. Lunch is available in the Train Shed Café at Pages Park Station before departure at extra cost but you will need to let me know in advance if you wish to eat there, as Groups like ours are required to pre-book.
The LBNGR is well known to us as our former President Sir William Mc Alpine unveiled a Red Wheel at Stonehenge Works at the other end of the line, in August 2017. The railway is 3 miles long and is built to a 2ft gauge and was originally built to transport sand for use in ammunition factories in WW1.
Pages Park Station is located in Billington Road, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 4TG and there is plenty of parking on-site.
Please contact me ASAP on alan.wallwork@nationaltransporttrust.org.uk to book your place.
The cost of the visit is £9 per person for members and £10 for non-members. Please transfer this amount electronically to the NTT Treasurer, Richard Norton when you book, marking your transfer as Ref: LB. The NTT bank details are: sort code: 40-52-40, account no: 00035669 (NB: the new account details).
If any of you are looking after your grand-children during the Summer Holidays, they can come along too provided they’re well-behaved, at a cost of £7 each.
We look forward to hearing from you and as this visit is expected to be popular, it is recommended that you book early.
Kind regards,
Alan
