Our base for this year’s Members’ weekend will be the 4* Belstead Brook Hotel on the outskirts of Ipswich. When it was built as a hunting lodge in Jacobean times it was not on the outskirts of Ipswich of course, but it retains a quiet and secluded atmosphere, the original building having been added to over the years to provide a range of high quality accommodation.
We are in the process of finalising our activities for the weekend but it is clear that to get the best out of what is available in the area we should choose to spend Saturday and Sunday nights in the hotel, though there is the option to add nights at either end or both ends enjoying the members’ rates agreed for Saturday and Sunday.
The programme will be finalised from the following elements; marrying up their different opening times is proving a challenge but we will not attempt to do them all!

• Cold War Museum at USAF Bentwaters
• Ipswich Transport Museum
• Walking tour of Ipswich quayside
• River trip on the Orwell to Felixstowe
• Chappel & Wakes Colne railway
The cost of the activities programme and meals on Saturday and Sunday will not exceed £175 per person; booking forms for the activities and meals will be sent out soon. The programme will run from 09.30 on Saturday to approximately 17.00 on Sunday.
